Artist Statement

In May, I was driving back from the flood-affected Tweed region and feeling anxious about the upcoming federal election.  It was raining, again, the road was wet.  Heading towards a glorious sunset seemed a perfect metaphor for hope. I finished the painting on the day the results were announced, and was happy.
