Artist Statement

Based on a series of digital sketches of myself started in lockdown, the pastel colours, loose line work and brush strokes are influenced by the speed and facility of tablet technology. Playing with layers and forms on a tablet makes it easy to record, rearrange, distort and repaint many times over. Quickly the face can become a kind of hybrid person, but keep characteristics of human mood and expression. This face has a strong presence that we can relate to.
