Artist Statement

As a landscape painter the drive from Yass to Wee Jasper never ceases to inspire me. Passing from undulating farm land you descend rapidly crossing the Murrumbidgee then into a more dynamic zone of ancient rock formations and hills too rugged for cultivation. Through a series of steep inclines and dangerous bends you arrive at Wee Jasper. This small painting is one in a series in which I try to capture some of the visceral excitement of that journey.
