Artist Statement

I work from a fascination with geology and search out landscape locations where rock formations are exposed and the Earth's history is revealed, such as cliffs, gorges, rock platforms. The work is inspired by research on the NSW South Coast where sandstone cliffs are eroded and shaped by wind and ocean. This cliff face is stained with oxides and lichens. I use fine sand mixed with pigments and acrylic medium, this gives the work a relevant physicality.
