Calleen Art Award 2023 - Opening Event

A special gala event has been planned by the Cowra Regional Art Gallery for the launch and preview of the Calleen Art Award 2023 on Saturday 7 October 2022 from 6.30pm – 8pm (doors open at 6.15 pm). This annual Spring event presented by the Cowra Regional Art Gallery will be opened by Cr Ruth Fagan, Mayor Cowra Shire Council and the announcement of the Calleen Art Award 2023 winner will be presented by this year’s Award Judge, Kon Gouriotis OAM, Curator, Editor, Arts Writer.

The CALLEEN ART AWARD 2023 exhibition is a compelling and diverse showcase of works this year by 57 finalists selected from 279 entries received from across Australia including established and emerging artists from NSW (including the Central West), Qld, Vic. Tas, ACT, WA and NT.

The CALLEEN ART AWARD was founded by Cowra art patron and collector Mrs. Patricia Fagan OAM in 1977 as a progressive acquisitive art award with the aim to foster creativity and excellence in the visual arts and enhance the cultural life of Cowra and the surrounding region. Now worth $25,000 in prize money with the support of the Calleen Trust the winning work will join the CALLEEN COLLECTION at the Cowra Regional Art Gallery.

The launch of this exciting and unique regional exhibition promises to be an enjoyable evening including music provided Cowra based ensemble the Walker Street Band. The Cowra Regional Art Gallery, is located at 77 Darling Street Cowra.  Gallery hours - Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm, Sunday 10am – 2pm. General admission is free.
