ENTRIES NOW OPEN – CALLING ALL ARTISTS!
Cowra Regional Art Gallery is pleased to announce that entries are open to the Calleen Art Award 2025 acquisitive national painting prize worth $30,000. The Calleen Art Award is an annual acquisitive painting prize and exhibition. It presents the best of contemporary Australian painting in any style, theme or subject.
Submissions for the Calleen Art Award 2025 will close on Sunday 6 July 2025 at 11.59pm AEST.
The Calleen Art Award 2025 is open to artists across Australia and this year’s award prize is $30,000. The winning painting will join the Calleen Collection at Cowra Regional Art Gallery.
Since its inception in 1977 by Cowra Art Patron Mrs Patricia Fagan OAM the Calleen Art Award has celebrated contemporary art practices and fostered originality, creativity and excellence in the visual arts; made possible with the generous support of the Calleen Trust. The Calleen Art Award finalists’ exhibition at the Cowra Regional Art Gallery is a signature art event in Cowra, in the Central West region of New South Wales.
The exhibition is a must-see opportunity for collectors, art lovers and those with a special interest in contemporary painting. Visitors can vote for their favourite artwork in the People’s Choice, announced at the end of the exhibition.
Finalists for the exhibition will be notified on or around 6 August 2025 and the exhibition of finalists will be open to the public 31 August to 5 October 2025. The opening night preview and announcement of the winner of the Calleen Art Award 2025 is on Saturday 30 August 2025 from 6pm and promises to be a memorable and enjoyable event.

The Calleen Art Award 2025 judge is Natalie Wilson, Curator Archie 100 Project and Australian Art at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Exhibition Dates: 30 August to 5 October 2025
Gallery Hours: Tues – Sat, 10am – 4pm and Sun 10am – 2pm. Admission free.
