The paintings and drawings on display are a distillation of deep-felt encounters around distinct landscape sites, where the artist has concentrated his energies on shaping a pared- back vision of light and space. The works bear witness to Benjamin’s disciplined scrutiny of topography, vegetation and climate as well as environmental concerns. Yet, what sets these works apart is the poetic metamorphosis that can only take place in the solitude of the studio. an exhibition curated by Gavin Wilson.
