Join National Gallery artist educators for a full-day professional learning program at Cowra Regional Gallery, NSW.

The program includes creative learning strategies to use when engaging with works from the national collection, with a special focus on the touring exhibition Olive Cotton and Her Contemporaries.

This session is open to early learning, primary, secondary and tertiary educators, and other youth and arts professionals.

National Gallery artist educators will outline the Gallery's Creative Learning Approach to engaging with works of art, using open ended creative learning strategies that centre the artist’s voice. We will invite participants to share stories and ideas through an inquiry-led approach. This approach is designed to support learners to make personal connections with works of art and reflect on our own lived experiences of the world.

This program focuses on works by photographer Olive Cotton, considering themes of light and the female gaze. Experimenting in the gallery and studio, participants will workshop a range of learning strategies using sound, movement and tactile responses.

Educators can continue these strategies in their classrooms, supported by the Olive Cotton: Drawing with Light learning resource and through the Ideas: the Photographic Artist online workshop program.

A verifiable digital certificate will be delivered to each attendee with 6 continuing professional development (CPD) hours.

This program includes:
     • Full day teacher engagement

• Verified certificate
     • Olive Cotton Learning Resource
